More feathers were added to the caps of both the Group Managing Director, Red Star Express Plc, Sola Obabori, and the Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Victor Ukwat, as they were inducted as Fellows of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria last Thursday, in Lagos.
The induction ceremony took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel during the Awards Dinner where several other distinguished inductees were present. The keynote lecture on the night was delivered by Professor Chris Ogbechie, former Director of Red Star Express Plc.
Speaking on their newly-acquired status, both Sola Obabori and Victor Ukwat expressed their delight at the achievement and urged staff of Red Star Express Plc to develop themselves to similar heights. Victor Ukwat stated “The thing about persons like us, is that we are not tired of growing. We want to keep developing ourselves and earn more milestones like this. This is an attitude that we want everyone else to have. Grow in your career line. Learn more. Gain more, and grow further. For the GMD and myself, this was a necessary step. Do what is necessary for you.”
Further celebrations ensued the following day as Sola Obabori received his postgraduate Doctorate Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife. Described by him as ‘the pinnacle of an academic journey spanning over 20 years’, Sola Obabori stated that receiving the degree ranks high as one of his proudest moments. “It’s a been an interesting journey for me. First of all, it’s by God’s grace that I was able to complete the programme. But then, I know that it was worth it.” He added.
He went on to urge members of staff to develop themselves while progressing in their various careers. “You can’t be in the same spot for so long without adding to your qualifications. You have to keep developing. Go for new academic programmes: ICAN, NIMN etc. Grow in your specialized area. Some of us have that target of adding to our list of qualifications. We need to train ourselves further, where necessary. I hope my latest achievement has inspired some of us to do the same” he added.
