RED STAR FOUNDATION HANDS OUT NEW SET OF SCHOLARSHIPS

In line with educational focus of the Red Star Foundation, the Corporate Responsibility arm of Red Star Express Plc, a new set of scholarships were handed out on Wednesday at the Company’s Training Room, in Lagos. A total of 27 students, from schools in Lagos and Kano, were given scholarships courtesy of the Foundation.

 

Prominent figures from Red Star Express Plc were present at the ceremony held in Lagos, which also saw some parents and teachers of the worthy scholars in attendance. Present for Red Star Express Plc management was Sola Obabori (Group Managing Director, Red Star Express Plc), Victor Ukwat (Executive Director, Sales and Marketing), Auwalu Babura (Executive Director, Finance and Administration), Charles Ejekam (Divisional Managing Director, Red Star Express), Enoma Ojo (Divisional Managing Director, Red Star Support Services), Ocholi Etu (Divisional Managing Director, Red Star Logistics), Frances Akpomuka (Head, Corporate Resources), Inemesit James-Okoro (Deputy General Manager, International Operations), Abdulkadir Koguna (Head, Administration) and Tonye Preghafi (Divisional Managing Director, Red Star Freight and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Red Star Foundation).

 

Speaking with the awardee, Sola Obabori urged the students not to rest on their laurels and work harder to achieve even more than their current reward. “Don’t stop working. Keep working and you’ll realize that you can do so much more” he added.

 

Tonye Preghafi added his remark, stating that the scholarship is an opportunity for the awardees to become the best they can be academically, and professionally. “You have to realize that this is a starting point so you have to keep going. Let this be a sign to you that you can achieve what you wish if you believe in yourself” he stated.
